Goranka Crete
Goranka understood very early in her life that a healthy mind, healthy body connection is key to a happy life. She enrolled in a dance school at the age of 11 and has never stopped moving. From dance, to skiing, tennis, sailing, and other sports she eventually landed on the path of yoga in the 90’s during her university studies in the US, where yoga was booming. While she’s been building her career as a manager of a successful London-based international consultancy, travelling worldwide and juggling with her family life, yoga has been her safe heaven, shielding her from the dangers of a stressful, fast-paced life style.
As she’s been advancing on her yoga path, her inner voice revealed the need to delve deeper into the various aspects of yoga that go beyond physical practice. Thus, about ten years ago she started attending meditation and Pranayama/breathing techniques workshops (e.g. Mindfulness, Vipassana, Art of Living Sahaj Samadhi, Sudarshan Kriya, Shakti Yoga/Krishna Kriya, Kundalini, etc.). She then gradually incorporated some of them into her daily yoga practice. The next step was the only logical continuation on that path: a study trip to India, and, more importantly, a series of 2x12-month Yoga Teacher Trainings (RYT 200, in 2017 and RYT500 in 2019) at the Divya Yoga and Zagreb Yoga Schools, under the guidance of the internationally renowned Teacher Sandra Petra Pintarić, who introduced her to Dharma Yoga. The school curriculum and practical work enabled her to deepen her asana practice and knowledge in yoga philosophy, psychology, anatomy, ethical rules, but, above all, techniques for transferring this invaluable knowledge to others. She discovered a new passion for yoga teaching, which did not come as a surprise considering that in her 25-year career as a communications expert, trainer and coach she has trained thousands of people from over 140 countries. Her love of sharing and helping others was simply transferred to yoga. Her classes are all about connecting with one’s true self and finding the inner peace.
In the past 20 years, Goranka tried out various yoga styles (Power Yoga, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Hatha, etc.) at different studios in the US and in France, where she lived for over 15 years, and in Zagreb where she currently lives. She eventually found her true love in the traditional Hatha Yoga, and more specifically, Dharma Yoga, in the lineage of Sri Dharma Mittra, one of the greatest living yoga masters whose 50 years of teaching are a true inspiration. Goranka visited Sri Dharma Mittra’s Dharma Yoga Center in New York City several times and had the immense privilege of practicing with him, during the Dharma Yoga Global Conference in New York and at the Dharma Yoga festival in London. She has also attended classes and workshops with various Dharma Yoga Teachers (Yiannis Andritsos, Andres Acosta, Camilo Garcia, Yoshio Hama, Mark Kan, Gerson Frau, etc.) and was accepted into the Dharma Yoga Life of a Yogi Teacher Training (LOAY 500) in 2020.
Since 2018, Goranka has been regularly teaching Hatha Yoga classes in French, English and Croatian, in the lineage of Dharma Yoga. She is a people-focused motivator whose goal is to light the yoga spark in your heart, as the legendary yoga master Sri Dharma Mittra would say: “Everything is there, you just have to turn it on.”
